An Aurora West College Preparatory Academy soccer coach was arrested on suspicion of child sex assault, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Friday.
Urlich Dahm, 67, is charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust as part of a pattern of abuse, which is a felony. His arrest warrant is sealed to protect the victim’s privacy, the DA’s office said in a news release.
Prosecutors allege the assault happened between Sept. 6 and Feb. 7 while Dahm was a soccer coach at the school.
In a letter to parents and staff, Principal Ryan Adams said the victim is a former student and Dahm is no longer employed by the school or district.
Dahm began working at Aurora Public Schools in 2018, Adams wrote, and a background check at the time “did not indicate any prior inappropriate behavior or criminal activity.”
Adams did not say when Dahm left the school or whether he resigned or was fired.“This allegation is deeply disturbing, and my focus will remain on supporting our AWCPA community,” Adams wrote.
Dahm is being held without bond in the Adams County Detention Facility, according to court records. His next court date was not immediately available.
