It might not be the kind of reception Swift is used to at this stage in her career. But it’s not the first time she’s received such a raucous response. Previously, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, might’ve been more bothered by the boos than Swift.</p>

<p id=”par-2_46″>Swift recently made headlines for much less flattering reasons than her music. The fans booing Swift and her visceral response was as discussed as the actual Super Bowl. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/taylor-swift-said-booed-super-bowl-according-lip-reader.html/”>Swift reportedly said</a>, “What’s going on” when the stadium’s jumbotron showed her wide-eyed and surprised before composing herself.</p>
<p id=”par-3_66″>It’s a question that others have asked as well — wondering what Swift did to earn her the backlash. A popular theory is that the number of Philadelphia Eagles fans greatly outweighed the number of Kansas City Chief troops at the stadium. So, Swift was basically in enemy territory, especially with her and Kelce almost being the face of the Chiefs since their relationship went public.</p>
<p id=”par-4_77″>The theory somewhat tracks. Swift received a similar reaction a couple of years ago when supporting one of her boyfriend’s games. In 2023, Kelce and the Chiefs played the New England Patriots. When Swift was shown during the competition, fans booed her not too unlike how she was booed during the 2025 Super Bowl. On Kelce’s <em><a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/new-heights-with-jason-travis-kelce/id1643745036″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>New Heights</a> </em>podcast, he addressed Swift’s 2023 boos, asserting that he didn’t think it was anything personal against the pop star.</p>
<p id=”par-5_53″>“I’ll say this — they showed Taylor at the game,” Kelce said. “And I mean, you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors. Just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen, yes.”</p>

<p id=”par-6_33″>But Kelce noted even that experience might’ve been different from her cold Super Bowl reception. Although Kelce acknowledged Swift’s boos, he believed there were way more fans in the stands cheering Swift on.</p>
<p id=”par-7_28″>“There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing. But, for the most part, everybody was f***ing screaming their tail off for her,” he said.</p>
<p id=”par-8_25″>Either way, Kelce admitted he exercised considerable restraint when it came to his girlfriend being booed. He reminded himself it was all in good fun.</p>
<p id=”par-9_53″>“I was like, ‘Don’t show your cards, don’t show your cards.’ It was fun, man. Taylor’s on record saying that stadium’s one of the funnest that she played at, so for them to show her is kind of just showing her some love, so shoutout to the Patriots for doing that,” he said.</p>

The same could be said about Kelce, who already had a bad night as the Eagles dominated the Chiefs early in the game. But his girlfriend’s unpopularity with the crowd only made the night worse.</p>
