The team has been to every Super Bowl since 2020 except one. And with every trip to the big game, the Chiefs cheerleaders continue a “crazy tradition” they’ve adopted. Read on to find out exactly what that is.

We know some football players have traditions or things they just have to do when they have big wins, well so do the members of their cheerleading squads.

In 2024, longtime Chiefs cheerleader Stefanie Hills revealed that “crazy tradition” in a <a href=”https://www.tiktok.com/@stefhills/video/7344866353196764462?lang=en&q=chiefs%20nfl%20cheer&t=1737038700849″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TikTok video.

She shared: “We have this crazy tradition where we get tattoos every time we go to a Super Bowl. Last year, we went to Definitive Tattoo Gallery and we absolutely loved it, so we’re back!”

The video begins with Hills arriving at the tattoo parlor where her fellow Chiefs cheerleaders were also assembled.

“This was my fourth Super Bowl appearance, so that means tattoo number four today,” she said.

Is every member of the squad required to get a tattoo?

Getting permanent ink every time the Chiefs make the Super Bowl may seem a little excessive, but Hills claimed not everyone has to do it.

“It is not a requirement to get a tattoo and there is absolutely no pressure,” she explained. “However, I would say the majority of our team got tatted … Even our athletic trainer, Michaela, joined us and got a cute Vegas-themed tattoo with 34 to represent the members of our team!”

Hills continued: “Most of us got the Roman numerals, however, you could get whatever you were feeling.”

Hills wanted something to match with the ink she had gotten in previous years so she requested the same tattoo artist and “asked him to match the font in the size. He just ended up just drawing it on, which is so impressive … I didn’t think I’d be going to four!”

After the artist completed the Roman numerals, Hills had him add an arrowhead next to the numbers on her foot as well. “Way more tolerable. Way more meat on this part of my foot,” she said.

She also made sure she let her artist know how “talented” he is and exclaimed: “We weren’t the toughest gals to get tatted, but we were the most spirited … until of course, we were getting tatted.”

In the video, Hills noted that was her “sixth and final season” with the Chiefs cheerleading squad. We’ll have to wait and see if she decides on getting another tattoo in retirement.
