<p id=”par-2_52″>When the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 32-29 at Arrowhead Stadium on Jan. 26, 2025, to win the AFC championship and advance to the Super Bowl, Swift took to the field to celebrate. She and Kelce engaged in some PDA and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/travis-kelce-taylor-swift-say-i-love-you-video-still-not.html/”>exchanged the L-word</a>, not unlike the Chiefs’ AFC win in 2024. </p>
<p id=”par-3_26″>They also discussed the big game being held in New Orleans, with Kelce alluding to his past as a college athlete at the University of Cincinnati. </p>
<p id=”par-4_43″>“Take me back to my old New Orleans home. I owe New Orleans a little something…” he told Swift and his mother, Donna Kelce, as they stood on the field in a <a href=”https://www.tiktok.com/@thekansascitystar/video/7464686036942130478?lang=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TikTok</a> video from The Kansas City Star (via <a href=”https://pagesix.com/2025/01/28/entertainment/taylor-swift-and-donna-kelce-issue-warning-to-travis-ahead-of-new-orleans-super-bowl/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Page Six</a>). </p>
<p id=”par-5_51″>At that, Swift asked if Kelce was referring to the 2010 Sugar Bowl when he got suspended from the University of Cincinnati football team after testing positive for marijuana in New Orleans. He nodded, and the “Fortnight” singer gave some advice with a smile, saying: “Yeah, no going to Bourbon Street.” </p>
<p id=”par-6_27″>“Yeah, I won’t be having as much fun that night,” Kelce replied, adding that he won’t have any “[hand] grenades,” a cocktail served in the French Quarter.</p>

<p id=”par-7_35″>Kelce previously opened up about his suspension in a 2023 <a href=”https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/06/travis-kelce-is-going-for-it?srsltid=AfmBOorz8laRLwV4vYgrYQJrXRXUQ2FqdVRxqVSNZ_3L4VXQD3N3zZav” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Vanity Fair</a> interview. “I was down in New Orleans, listening to Lil Wayne, and I wanted to smoke what he was smoking,” the now-35-year-old recalled. </p>
<p id=”par-8_39″>At the time, Kelce and the Cincinnati Bearcats were preparing to play the Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Because of Kelce’s pre-game partying, namely testing positive when the NCCA administered random drug tests, he didn’t take the field. </p>
<p id=”par-9_33″>“I’m just sitting there, dead in the water,” he said of his one-year suspension. “I just wanted to get out of there. I was so embarrassed, I didn’t want to look at anybody.” </p>
<p id=”par-10_35″>He even considered quitting football. Kelce ended up living with his brother, Jason Kelce, a now-retired center for the Philadelphia Eagles. Then he returned to football before ultimately getting drafted by the Chiefs in 2013. </p>

<p id=”par-11_102″>Before beating the Buffalo Bills and securing a spot in the Super Bowl, Kelce opened up about how <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/travis-kelce-explains-doesnt-have-to-worry-relationship-taylor-swift.html/”>being “happy”</a> in his relationship with Swift has allowed him to zero in on his career as a football player. <br><br>“Having that confidence and comfort off the field and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium,” he said on the <em>Stephen A. Smith Show</em>. “She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game. She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”</p>
<p id=”par-12_37″>“That’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship […] you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft,” he went on. “Focus on being the best version of you.”</p>
<p id=”par-13_45″>“I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player that I can possibly be, week in and week out for this team,” he added. “And it’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.” </p>
