1 killed, 1 wounded in Austin shooting

An 18-year-old man was killed and another man wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon in Austin.

The men were on a sidewalk about 3 p.m. in the 200 block of North Central Avenue when someone fired shots, Chicago police said.

The 18-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The dead man was identified as Kemoni Pitchford by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy determined that his death was a homicide.

The other man, 26, was shot in the chest and was hospitalized in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

No arrests were reported.
