Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese and McDonald’s have partnered for a meal of a deal.
Make that “special” deal.
Staring Feb. 10, the fast food chain’s menu will feature a meal special named for the WNBA’s Sky forward and entrepreneur. The Angel Reese Special will include a BBQ bacon Quarter Pounder with cheese, new Bold BBQ Sauce, an order of fries and a choice of drink. The deal marks the first time McDonald’s has released a national meal collaboration with a female sports superstar.
“McDonald’s has always been a big part of my life, from grabbing a McChicken sandwich as a kid to being named a McDonald’s All American in 2020,” said Reese via statement. “It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes everywhere to never give up on pursuing their dreams.”
McDonald’s has a long history with basketball, including classic commercials with legends of the game — including the iconic Big Mac lunch showdown between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird in 1993 — and more than four decades of sponsoring the McDonald’s All American Games, which showcase the top high-school basketball players in the country. This year’s games take on April 1 in Brooklyn, New York.
“We want to continue to fuel [fans’] love for the game and support athletes on and off the court. We’re excited to bring our legacy with basketball culture to a new generation, and partnering with Angel is only the beginning,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, Vice President of Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture at McDonald’s.
