Police arrest man suspected of sexually assaulting Berkeley High student

BERKELEY — A person suspected of sexually assaulting a Berkeley High student has been arrested, police said.

Officers made the arrest Thursday about noon, according to a statement from Berkeley police. The assault happened Thursday at an undisclosed time in Civic Center Park, located in the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to police, the victim was walking along the sidewalk when confronted by a 41-year-old man who touched the person inappropriately.

School security officers and other school officials at Berkeley High helped identify the suspect, according to police. Officers arrested him without incident.
