A commentator says the Prince and Princess of Wales have no interest in facing off with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex online. </p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-meghan-markle-is-back-on-social-media-nbsp”>Meghan Markle is back on social media </h2>
<p id=”par-2_41″>The Duchess of Sussex started 2025 by <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markles-return-instagram-going-exactly-wanted.html/”>returning to Instagram</a>. On Jan. 1, 2025, Meghan posted a <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DESeJO5vFSN/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Reel</a> of herself writing “2025” in the sand at the beach near her and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-harry/?swcfpc=1″>Prince Harry</a>’s home in Montecito, Calif., to her @meghan account. </p>
<p id=”par-3_48″>The video clip, reportedly filmed by the Duke of Sussex, 40, marked Meghan’s first big splash on social media after closing her personal Instagram account in January 2018. Her @meghan handle sat dormant for approximately 2.5 years before the former <em>Suits</em> star’s post confirmed she was behind it. </p>
<p id=”par-4_37″>Meghan quickly followed it up with another post on Jan. 2, 2025, sharing the trailer for her upcoming Netflix show, <em>With Love,</em> <em>Meghan</em>. Later, she shared a personal update with her followers, revealing her <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-grieves-loss-beloved-family-member.html/”>beloved dog’s death</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-5_34″>At the time of writing, William and Kate aren’t following Meghan on social media. (They’re official Instagram account is @princeandprincessofwales.) As for Harry and Meghan’s joint Instagram, @SussexRoyal, it hasn’t been updated since 2020.</p>

<p id=”par-6_22″>Harry and Meghan, who? That’s pretty much what William and Kate’s attitudes are toward the California-based royals, according to commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. </p>
<p id=”par-7_49″>“The last thing that William and Kate are interested in just at this moment are the activities of the Sussexes,” he told <a href=”https://www.gbnews.com/royal/kate-middleton-prince-william-competition-meghan-markle-prince-harry-news” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>GB News</a>. As for keeping tabs on Meghan’s new Instagram account, “following Meghan on Instagram may have been possible, but they’re not in competition with the Sussexes.” </p>
<p id=”par-8_37″>“It’s perfectly true that the Sussexes do attract enormous publicity,” the commentator explained. However, “in terms of Kate and William and what they do, I don’t think there’s an overlap there.” Hence no Sussex vs. Wales competition. </p>

<p id=”par-9_43″>So, what are William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan doing these days? Besides raising young children—the future king and queen are parents of three and the Sussexes are parents of two—they’re focused on the U.K. (William and Kate) and the U.S. (Harry and Meghan). </p>
<p id=”par-10_46″>As the future of the monarchy, William and Kate are busy carving out their places within the royal family. William’s got the Earthshot Prize and his initiative to fight homelessness just to name a few. Meanwhile, Kate has a long history of working on child development. </p>
<p id=”par-11_34″>Last year saw the two focus on Kate’s health after she announced she’d been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in March 2024. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/kate-middleton-cancer-timeline.html/”>Now in remission</a>, Kate is slowly amping up royal duties. </p>
<p id=”par-12_47″>As for Harry and Meghan, they are nearly five years removed from leaving the U.K. to relocate to California. (They officially left in March 2020.) The pair have inked media deals, and dissolved some (Spotify and “Archetypes”), in addition to having charities and initiatives of their own. </p>
<p id=”par-13_50″>The Invictus Games continue to be a major event on Harry’s calendar. (He and Meghan are expected at the Winter Games in Canada come February 2025.) They also executive produced <em>Polo</em> for Netflix to underwhelming reviews in late 2024. Next up is <em>With Love, Meghan</em>, which <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-opting-push-back-netflix-premiere-help-her-more-ways.html/”>premieres in March</a> 2025. </p>
