Construction worker injured at site of future Obama Center in Jackson Park

A construction worker was hospitalized after falling several stories at the site of the future Obama Center in Jackson Park.

The man was working on a ventilation shaft at the construction site, at 60th Street and Stony Island Avenue, when he got stuck and then fell several stories about 1 p.m., sources told the Sun-Times.

Chicago firefighters rescued the man, and he was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center with multiple injuries.

He was alert, but his condition wasn’t known.

The Obama Center did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
