Loop restaurant held up at gunpoint

Charges are pending for a man who stole a cash register from a Loop restaurant early Wednesday in the Loop.

Around 12:05 a.m., a man entered the restaurant in the 100 block of North Wabash Avenue with his hand inside a bag implying he had a weapon, Chicago police said.

A 34-year-old man who was inside the restaurant briefly argued with the robber before leaving and calling police, officials said.

The robber, who stole a register with an unknown amount of money from the restaurant, fled but was taken into custody nearby, police said.

Charges were pending.
