A man died Sunday afternoon of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot after Oak Forest police warned residents of an armed person who was being sought, Oak Forest police said.
Police initially warned people to avoid the Food 4 Less parking lot near 159th Street and Central Avenue due to a “possible armed suspect.” Police say he later shot himself inside a vehicle.
The South Suburban Emergency Response Team had been activated in response to the situation, police said. Information on the man was not yet available.
