Disney donates $15 million to Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts

The Walt Disney Company will donate $15 million to fire relief efforts in the Los Angeles area following the devastating fires that destroyed swaths of Pacific Palisades and Altadena this week during the unprecedented wildfire siege.

The Palisades and Eaton fires have killed at least 10 people, destroyed more than 9,000 buildings and charred more than 35,000 acres. Both fires are less than 10% contained and 150,000 people in Los Angeles County remain on mandatory evacuation.

The Disney donation will support the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and other organizations providing essential services, recovery efforts and rebuilding support in the wake of the deadly wildfires.

The Disney Employee Relief Fund is working around the clock to help cast members impacted by the fires and facing hardship as a result of the crisis.

“Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with little more than his limitless imagination and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams and create extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement released by the company. “We are proud to provide assistance to this resilient and vibrant community in this moment of need.”
