Bay FC signs three-time All-American Taylor Huff

For the second time in 10 days, Bay FC added one of the top college stars in the country as it announced the signing of three-time All-American midfielder Taylor Huff of Florida State.

Huff signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year with Bay FC on Thursday, just as former Cal star forward Karlie Lema did on New Year’s Eve.

Huff joins the club on her first pro contract following her selection to the roster for the U.S. Women’s National Team Futures Camp, which is scheduled to take place in Carson from Jan. 14-21.

Huff will come to Bay FC after a standout college career at Tennessee and Florida State where she earned All-American honors three times and lifted the 2023 NCAA College Cup. With the Volunteers from 2021-2022, she scored 15 goals and had 12 assists in 41 appearances and helped her squad to consecutive NCAA tournaments, including a trip to the 2021 Round of 16.

“Taylor is a dynamic midfielder who has consistently excelled at every level of the game,” said Bay FC coach Albertin Montoya. “Her ability to impact matches on both sides of the ball is truly unique, and her leadership and competitive spirit were pivotal in leading Florida State to a championship in 2023.”

Letters: New Gilded Age | Endangering consumers | Positive message | Vaccine stance | Early campaigning | Student workload

Lema won ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors after the Golden Bears’ first year in the conference and she was the first collegian Bay FC signed since the National Women’s Soccer League announced it was abolishing the draft.

Both Huff and Lema should provide another jolt to Bay FC’s team, which set an NWSL record for most regular season victories ever by an expansion team when it won 11 games this past season.
