Rumors and conspiracy theories about the couple have cropped up over the years and they typically do not comment on them. Once, though, Jay-Z defended his wife against a pervasive rumor. He said it shocked him that the media covered the story at all.</p>

<p id=”par-2_44″>Beyoncé announced <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/beyonce-jay-z-reportedly-spent-1-million-daughter-blue-ivy.html/”>her first pregnancy</a> at the VMAs in 2011. Before long, people began to speculate that she wasn’t really pregnant. Instead, some believed that she wore a prosthetic stomach and hired a surrogate. When asked about these rumors, Jay-Z described them as absurd.</p>
<p id=”par-3_84″>“I don’t even know how to answer that. It’s just so stupid,” he told <a href=”https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2013/11/jay-z-beyonce-blue-ivy-cover-story?srsltid=AfmBOoqE6ws7Y4rtfKUmZRjg31qd9eJO2vNaDAgmgACRkRkGWyU_HnZc” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Vanity Fair</a> in 2013. “You know, I felt dismissive about it, but you’ve got to feel for her. I mean, we’ve got a really charmed life, so how can we complain? But when you think about it, we’re still human beings. And this is a time like … forget Beyoncé, forget the person — a mother carrying <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/do-beyonce-and-jay-z-plan-on-having-more-children-in-the-future.html/”>her first child</a>, and this is the thing they have to deal with?”</p>

<p id=”par-4_14″>He believed that the fact that the media even covered the story was ridiculous.</p>
<p id=”par-5_39″>“Certain things should be off-limits,” he said. “I have thick skin, I understand; I go outside, you want to take my picture, fine. But there should be some kind of human-decency boundaries. This is a mother with a child.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_24″>He added that it felt particularly hurtful that hip-hop blogs gave air to the rumor. He thought they should have been on their side.</p>
<p id=”par-7_42″>“And even in hip-hop, all the blogs — they had a field day with it,” he added. “I’m like, We come from you guys, we represent you guys. Why are you perpetuating this? Why are you adding fuel to this ridiculous rumor?”</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-she-also-addressed-the-rumors”>She also addressed the rumors</h2>
<p id=”par-8_32″>When the rumors first cropped up, Beyoncé described them as “stupid, ridiculous, and false.” She spoke more about them in 2012, noting that they <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/the-most-ridiculous-rumor-about-beyonce-might-also-be-the-one-that-hurt-her-the-most.html/”>felt too outrageous</a> to even hurt her feelings.</p>
<p id=”par-9_22″>“That was crazy. It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy,” she said, per <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/beyonce-slams-fake-pregnancy-rumors-it-wasnt-hurtful-it-was-just-46407/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Billboard</a>, adding, “Where did they come up with this?”</p>

<p id=”par-10_30″>Both Jay-Z and Beyoncé both addressed the rumors, but they don’t often speak out about <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/beyonce-shared-wanted-talk-relationship-jay-z.html/”>their personal lives</a>. In their years together, they’ve given very little insight into their relationship. </p>
<p id=”par-11_41″>“I don’t actually talk about who I’m dating, who I’m not, because I think it’s important that I concentrate on the music and when you start talking about those things, then that becomes bigger than the art,” Beyoncé said (per <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.today.com/popculture/popculture/beyonce-jay-z-relationship-timeline-rcna40115″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Today</a>).</p>
