A brush fire that started on Wednesday evening led to the overnight evacuation of residents in Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon and Hollywood Bowl neighborhoods.
The Sunset Fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Runyon Canyon Park, just above Hollywood Boulevard.
Because of its proximity to hilly neighborhoods reached by narrow winding roads, evacuations began when the fire was just 10 acres. The 3½-square-mile zone was bounded by Hollywood Boulevard, Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Mulholland Drive and Highway 101.
The evacuation order was lifted on Thursday morning.
On Wednesday night, the fire was estimated at 43 acres.
