Delays persist at O’Hare International Airport Monday morning as nearly 100 flights were canceled due to a blast of wintry weather.
A ground stop was put in place around 6:30 a.m. by the Federal Aviation Administration due to snow and icy conditions. The stop was lifted around 7:45 a.m., according to the FAA.
A ground delay was still in effect until 10 a.m. with delays averaging 48 minutes, officials said.
Nearly 100 flights were canceled at O’Hare as of 7:45 a.m. Monday, according to FlightAware.
The National Weather Service warned of slick roads due to freezing rain. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches were possible by Monday afternoon, meteorologists said.
