Teen charged in connection with shooting of 2-year-old boy in North Lawndale home

A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the shooting of a 2-year-old boy Thursday in a North Lawndale home.

The teen is charged as a juvenile and faces one felony count of obstructing justice and destroying evidence, and one misdemeanor count of child endangerment. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Officers were called just after 4 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 3800 block of West 14th Street, where they found the toddler suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital and was listed in critical condition, according to police.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.

A woman declined to comment when a reporter knocked on the door Friday morning.
