Leave the car keys at home.

The Chicago Transit Agency and Metra are offering free rides on New Year’s Eve.

The CTA won’t charge fares from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day, thanks to a sponsorship from Miller Lite.

The CTA is also extending service on certain routes for the midnight New Year’s Eve fireworks at Navy Pier. The Yellow Line will be extended until 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The Purple Line will be extended until 1:40 a.m.

Four bus lines will also receive extra service: The No. 29 State, No. 65 Grand, No. 66 Chicago, and No. 124 Navy Pier.

Metra will offer free rides after 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. If you’re traveling before then, Metra is offering a special $7 pass that allows for unlimited rides throughout the day.

Metra trains will be operating on a reduced schedule on New Year’s Eve, but the last outbound trains will be delayed until after 1 a.m. on most lines.
