Parents arrested after abandoned baby found in car seat in Pecos Street median on Christmas

The parents of a one-month-old baby boy who was found in a car seat in the median of Pecos Street in Adams County on Christmas morning, clad in just a diaper, have been arrested.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jarvis Sims, 42, and Christina Thurman, 33, on Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse. They were described as being the biological parents of the baby boy, who was found in the 7400 block of Pecos Street Wednesday morning.

No further information about why the baby was left in the median was immediately available.

The sheriff’s office posted a picture of the car seat on social media Wednesday and asked for the community’s help identifying who it might belong to.

“Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word for this case,” the agency posted Wednesday afternoon.

Denver’s KMGH-7 reported that the boy had been taken to Children’s Hospital Colorado as a precaution.
