Posadas reenacts Mary holding Jesus at the Andres Pico Adobe in Mission Hills

Stella Radenkovic, 14, reenacted Mary holding Jesus, honoring the story of Christ’s birth during the annual Las Posadas procession at the Andres Pico Adobe in Mission Hills presented by the San Fernando Valley Historical Society. Stella was helped by her brother Jovan, 11, who was part of the procession.

Sister Clarinda Idea, Sister Wendy, and Sister Mayra of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception sang traditional songs and played guitars during the procession held on Dec. 7.

And Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus showed up to greet the children with candy canes and were joined by Midge Gisel, an early child actor from the classic Our Gang comedies and volunteer Joanna Rosales who brought her two nephews.

The Andres Pico Adobe was built in 1834 — the second-oldest adobe home in Los Angeles — and was restored in the 1930s and became the headquarters of the San Fernando Valley Historical Society. It includes a museum free to the public that features the Valley’s history and culture.
