Bears left tackle Braxton Jones appeared to suffer a major ankle injury in the second quarter against the Lions on Sunday and was carted to the locker room.
With 9:06 left in the second quarter, Jones went down while blocking on a pass play and immediately grabbed his left leg. The Bears’ medical staff put his leg in an air cast, and most of their sideline came out to the field to check on Jones.
He quickly was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Jones missed the last game with a concussion, but cleared the protocol in time to return against the Lions.
The Bears have had offensive line trouble all season, both in on-field performance and injuries. Jones and left guard Teven Jenkins (calf injury) were questionable for this game, and Jenkins left before Jones and was labeled doubtful to return.
With Jones and Jenkins out, the Bears shifted to Larry Borom at left tackle and Jake Curhan at left guard. Backup tackle Kiran Amegadjie, who started for Jones at left tackle last week, is inactive.
