Things to do in Denver: Charlie Brown’s Christmas music and edgy comedy from Josh Blue

Holiday flights of fancy

Through Tuesday. The touring Cirque Dreams Holidaze show promises “Broadway-style production” mixed with modern circus arts and a “world-renowned cast of performers, aerial circus acts, sleight-of-hand jugglers, acrobatics, and more.” Expect twists on “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Carol of the Bells” with singers, dancers, penguins, toy soldiers, and reindeer, producers said.

The all-ages show, with new sets, scenery, and storylines from previous years, plays Denver’s Bellco Theatre at the Colorado Convention Center, 1100 Stout St. in downtown Denver, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, with multiple daily shows through Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24). Tickets: $44-$151 via axs.com

A very Blue Christmas

Through Saturday. Denver crusher and national headliner Josh Blue returns to Comedy Works in Denver — where he’s worked out a lot of his stand-up material over the years — for a run that includes shows at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on both Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21.

Blue, a relentless touring presence, has used TV shows such as “America’s Got Talent” and “Last Comic Standing” to reinforce his loyal fanbase, who flock to his devastatingly funny takes on his own cerebral palsy, stoner-athlete life, food, art, sex, parenting, and other subjects. While his Saturday shows are sold out, tickets are still available for Friday as of this writing. 1226 15th St. in downtown Denver. $30, 21-and-up only. 303-595-3637 or comedyworks.com

Puerto Rican culture night

Ticket options for the 18-and-up night include individual events or all three together, $10-$55. It takes place at Three Leaches Theater, 1560 Teller St. in Lakewood, presented by Flamboyán Theatre. bit.ly/4gHTfNV

All-ages “Charlie Brown Christmas”

Through Tuesday. Among its busy holiday calendar, Dazzle has a number of all-ages Charlie Brown Christmas shows from Annie Booth Trio & Friends that celebrate composer Vince Guaraldi’s bittersweet musical masterpieces from “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Some shows are sold out and others have limited availability. Check individual dates and times, through Tuesday, Dec. 24, including at 2, 5:30 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, and multiple shows on Saturday and Sunday, with rotating guest vocalists.
