The Star Wars fireworks show at Disneyland will soon roll out new projection effects designed to rival the imagery seen on Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street U.S.A. that draw thousands for nighttime spectaculars.
The “Fire of the Rising Moons” fireworks show in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature projection effects and galactic music during the Season of the Force seasonal event running from March 28 through May 11.

The annual Star Wars celebration returns to Tommorowland and Galaxy’s Edge for a six-week run on either side of May 4 — the unofficial holiday of the epic saga.
The Star Wars fireworks show that debuted in April in Galaxy’s Edge tells the tale of heroes, villains and the battle between light and darkness.
A Lore Weaver sets up the story with a prologue inviting smugglers, scoundrels, pirates and rogues to banish the darkness and bring light to Black Spire Outpost. A modified R1-series droid named Bard was added in May to the “Fire of the Rising Moons” show.

Disneyland’s Star Wars themed land had always been strangely quiet during the park’s fireworks shows before the introduction of “Fire of the Rising Moons.”
Disneyland opted to keep the Star Wars fireworks show after the Season of the Force event ended in May and adapt it to the ever-changing lineup of Disneyland’s fireworks shows — essentially giving the park two distinct fireworks shows playing simultaneously.
The Star Wars symphonic soundtrack featuring music by composer John Williams varied depending on which Disneyland fireworks show was playing on any particular night. LED lighting on the rockwork spires above Batuu slowly transitioned from blue to purple to red and orange throughout the show.
But Galaxy’s Edge always fell silent whenever Disneyland opted for a projection-only nighttime spectacular without fireworks — but that will soon change.
The new projection package will mean Galaxy’s Edge will have a unique nighttime spectacular every night — regardless of whether Disneyland is blasting off fireworks or not.

Disneyland filed building permits in November with the city of Anaheim to install projectors in several locations in Galaxy’s Edge, according to WDW News Today.
The new installations will create projection mapping effects on the rockwork above the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction, Souk Market shopping area and Oga’s Cantina.
The new projectors should allow the Disney Live Entertainment team to project Star Wars imagery on the Galaxy’s Edge rockwork the same way animation effects are projected on Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street U.S.A. and It’s a Small World during nighttime spectaculars.
