<p id=”par-1_54″>In early December 2024, news broke that rapper and hip-hop mogul<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/jay-z/”> Jay-Z</a>, whose real name is Shawn Carter, had been <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/jay-z-responds-rape-allegations-calls-lawyer-ambuance-chaser.html/”>named in a lawsuit</a> alongside Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, alleging that he sexually assaulted a minor back in 2000 after the MTV Video Music Awards. Carter vehemently denied the allegations and vowed to fight them.</p>
<p id=”par-2_37″>While many celebrities have distanced themselves from Diddy, the same can’t be said for Carter, as some celebs are backing him in this situation — and one of them is radio host and comedian Charlamagne tha God.</p>

<p id=”par-3_58″>Carter was named alongside Diddy in the alleged sexual assault of a then-13-year-old girl after she allegedly got a ride to a VMAs after-party in Diddy’s limo. The lawsuit says that she had a drink that made her feel “woozy,” so she went to lie down in a bedroom — and that’s when Diddy and Carter came in.</p>
<p id=”par-4_69″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/jay-z-more-than-prepared-deal-sexual-assault-allegations-expose-fraud.html/”>Carter aggressively denied the allegations</a>, even suggesting that the woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one because that’s how confident Carter is that he is not guilty “This incident didn’t happen,” Carter told <a href=”https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jay-zs-lawyer-says-expects-rapper-soon-cleared-rape-lawsuit-rcna184412″>NBC</a> in a statement. “True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_64″>Charlamagne tha God recently spoke out about the situation, saying that he “reserves” the right to believe what he wants. “I don’t believe certain things, and I don’t believe those allegations against Jay-Z in any way, shape, or form,” Charlamagne said while speaking to <em>Good Day New York</em> on December 16. “These lawyers will try to extort you and will try to blackmail you.”</p>

<p id=”par-6_62″>Alex Spiro, who is representing Carter, says he believes the rapper will soon be cleared of any allegations. “Mr. Carter speaks for himself, and he speaks from a position of strength because he’s completely innocent and these claims are obviously false,” Spiro told NBC of the lawsuit. “We expect Mr. Carter to be cleared of this in the coming days,” he added.</p>
<p id=”par-7_64″>The alleged victim has chosen to remain anonymous, although Jay-Z has asked that the judge <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/jay-z-pushing-accusers-name-public-amid-lawsuit.html/”>deny the victim’s anonymity request</a>. The victim is staying true to her story, although the press has identified a number of inconsistencies, including whom she spoke to that night, who brought her home, and an image suggesting Carter and Combs were not at the location she said they were.</p>
