75-year-old man fatally shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 75-year-old man was fatally shot in East Oakland Wednesday night, authorities said.

The man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday outside in the 900 block of East 28th Street, a residential area in the Bella Vista district.

Police said the man was in the area visiting friends when he was shot by someone who fled the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.

A motive for the killing has not yet been determined. No suspect information has been released.
