Santa, by helicopter
Saturday-Sunday. Here’s a lofty gift: the expert Santa trackers at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum have convinced the big guy and Mrs. Claus to fly their helicopter to Colorado on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. On the ground — at both the Lowry museum and at their second location, Exploration of Flight (at Centennial Airport) — the Clauses will meet-and-greet families and take photos.
Kids can also check out the candy cane scavenger hunt, games and holiday crafts, a magic show from Chad Wonder Magic, balloon twisting, and more.

A lovely “Wintersong”
Saturday. Celebrate the Dec. 21 Winter Solstice a week early with a lovely, candlelit performance of Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble’s “WinterSong” at Shove Memorial Chapel in Colorado Springs. “Music and spoken word combine in the gothic splendor of Shove Chapel by candlelight, telling stories of mystery, timelessness, the intersection between light and dark, and the beauty of the natural world as it is revealed in winter,” producers wrote.
The annual show, which will have a pair of performances at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., is free with a suggested donation of $10. It takes place at 1010 N. Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs; see cvae.org for parking information and more.
Yuja Wang and Colorado Symphony
Wednesday. The captivating piano of Yuja Wang will meet the Colorado Symphony on Wednesday, Dec. 18, when they collaborate on Stravinsky’s Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, led by conductor Eric Jacobsen — who happens to be a close friend and collaborator of Wang’s.

“Disneyland on the Mountain” is back
Saturday. Former Boulder Daily Camera entertainment editor Greg Glasgow and co-author Kathryn Mayer are headed back to Colorado Saturday, Dec. 14, with their gripping nonfiction book “Disneyland on the Mountain: Walt, the Environmentalists, and the Ski Resort That Never Was.”
Their signing and reading, at noon at Tallyn’s Reach Library, 23911 E. Arapahoe Road in Aurora, will revisit the acclaimed 2023 title about the bizarre history of a failed Disney snow resort in Southern California and the environmental chaos it set off (with some Colorado ties, of course).
