2 arrested in ambush killing of California doctor outside his clinic in August

A man from Texas and a woman from Reseda have been arrested in the killing of a Woodland Hills doctor whose body was found outside his clinic by his car this summer, police announced on Tuesday evening, Dec. 10.

Los Angeles police said Dr. Hamid Mirshojae was ambushed and shot by a single gunman after leaving his medical practice in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard on August 23.

The suspect then fled on foot to an awaiting vehicle, authorities said.

Evan Hardman, a 41-year-old resident of Tomball, Texas, and Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, of Reseda, were both arrested on Tuesday.

Hardman was arrested in the greater Houston area of Texas and Sweeting was arrested in the San Fernando Valley. Both were booked on suspicion of murder. No charges have been filed yet.

The LAPD Valley homicide bureau made the arrests. Additional agencies providing assistance included the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Texas, whose officers took Hardman into custody, and the Houston Police Department, LAPD said.
