The subject of their conversation? How Kate got help from Louis to keep the Royal Ballet’s performance at the service a secret from his big sister, Charlotte. </p>
<p id=”par-3_40″>“Louis knew about the dancers and was talking about them over tea,” Kate said in the video. Louis, 6, asked, “What’s the secret?” At that, Kate told him who would be performing and asked that he keep it to himself. </p>

<p id=”par-8_44″>Charlotte’s not the only one who has been in for a surprise at Kate’s annual Christmas carol concert. At the event in December 2021, Kate gave her first-ever public piano performance, accompanying singer Tom Walker on his song “For Those Who Can’t Be Here.” </p>
<p id=”par-9_23″>Per <a href=”https://people.com/royals/kate-middleton-tv-debut-playing-piano-tom-walker/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>, Kate came up with the idea to join Walker on piano herself after taking “great comfort” in playing during the pandemic. </p>
<p id=”par-10_46″>“Music was very important to the Duchess during the lockdowns,” an insider said at the time. “She also recognizes the powerful way in which music brings people together—especially during difficult times. For these reasons, she was keen to be part of Tom’s performance in this way.” </p>
<p id=”par-11_38″>So, who knows, maybe Louis will have to keep another secret next year when Kate’s carol concert returns. Or, perhaps it’ll be Charlotte—or his older brother, Prince George—who are tasked with keeping details about the evening to themselves. </p>
