Norridge man charged with possessing hundreds of child sex abuse images

A man from northwest suburban Norridge is accused of possessing hundreds of videos of child sexual abuse.

Richard Corcino, 47, is facing felony charges of dissemination and possession of child pornography, the Cook County sheriff’s office said.

Corcino made his initial court appearance in Skokie last week. He was ordered released until his next court date Jan. 17, the sheriff’s office said.

The charges against Corcino stem from a months-long investigation that began in August, when sheriff’s police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a social media user who had shared more than a dozen files containing child sexual abuse material, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators executed a search warrant for the social media account and allegedly linked it to Corcino, the sheriff’s office said.

Corcino was taken into custody Dec. 3. Officers recovered a cell phone on Corcino during his arrest and another during a subsequent search of his home, the sheriff’s office said. Corcino allegedly admitted that he used both phones to view images of child sexual abuse.

“A forensic analysis of both phones revealed hundreds of videos of child pornography, many involving victims under the age of 13,” the sheriff’s office said.

Since 2020, investigations by the sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit has led to charges against 51 people for cases involving child sexual abuse materials.
