Livermore: Police believe woman, 80, was killed at senior living home

LIVERMORE — Police here have launched a homicide investigation into the death of an 80-year-old woman who was knocked to the ground at a senior living home and died from her injuries, authorities said.

The 80-year-old victim died earlier this month while undergoing surgery for a hip fracture she sustained at the facility on Holmes Street, authorities said. Police launched an investigation last week after receiving a report that she was knocked or pulled to the ground while arguing with another person.

Police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing the woman’s medical history. A  coroner’s examination of the woman’s death has not yet been completed: That process typically takes months in Alameda County, but authorities have said that their preliminary investigation shows the death was a homicide.

No arrests have been announced. Police haven’t specified any other person who may have been involved in an argument with the woman or revealed the nature of the argument.
