<p id=”par-2_64″>While walking the red carpet ahead of the event, Stefani and Shelton scarcely took their eyes or hands off each other. Stefani wore a sheer red dress with red satin petals from Yanina Couture, which she paired with a red clutch and diamond bracelet. Shelton opted for a <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/blake-shelton-tells-the-voice-star-gwen-stefani-inappropriately-dressed-oklahoma.html/”>significantly more casual look</a>. He wore a black shirt and jacket with jeans and boots. </p>

<p id=”par-3_16″>While Stefani and Shelton began dating in late 2015, the party was their <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-shared-melts-thinks-1st-date-blake-shelton.html/”>first public date</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-4_37″>“That was my first public date with Blake Shelton, actually,” Stefani said on <em>The Kelly Clarkson Show</em> (via <a href=”https://www.nbc.com/nbc-insider/gwen-stefani-first-public-date-night-with-blake-shelton-kelly-clarkson-show” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>NBC</a>). “It was the Oscars Vanity Fair party. I think I played at the party and then we went out that night.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_19″>Shelton rarely walks the red carpet at events, which makes the night seem all the more romantic to Stefani.</p>

<p id=”par-9_43″>“They acted like giddy teenagers at a high school dance,” another guest at the party told <a href=”https://people.com/music/gwen-stefani-blake-shelton-relationship-timeline/#:~:text=Stefani%20and%20Shelton%20began%20dating,timeline%20of%20the%20couple’s%20relationship.” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>. “They were holding hands the whole night and didn’t leave each other’s sides. I don’t think either of them stopped smiling the entire time they were there.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_46″>Stefani and Shelton met as coaches on <em>The Voice</em>. In 2015, they were both going through divorces, splitting from Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert. They bonded over their heartbreak, but Stefani said she took a step back when she realized she was developing feelings for Shelton.</p>
<p id=”par-11_64″>“We had just met, and it was chaos. Both of our lives were in complete turmoil, all over the ground. Nothing could save us at that point,” Stefani told <a href=”https://people.com/gwen-stefani-recalls-chaos-early-days-dating-blake-shelton-not-happening-8751595″>People</a>. “There was a point where I was like, ‘I can’t even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing.’”</p>
<p id=”par-12_33″>Ultimately, he won her over by asking her to work on a song with him. She later came to <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-said-blake-sheltons-divorce-announcement-felt-gift.html/”>view it as a blessing</a> to have Shelton to lean on through her divorce.</p>
