Disneyland submits plans for Avengers Campus expansion prep work

Disneyland has taken the initial steps to begin backstage preparations for the expansion of Avengers Campus that will add two new attractions and double the size of the Marvel themed land at Disney California Adventure.

Disneyland has submitted a plan to the city of Anaheim for Avengers Campus expansion prep work that is currently under review, according to city officials.

The plan submitted by Disneyland addresses utilities, temporary trailers and parking lots in the backstage area behind Avengers Campus that would be impacted by the expansion.

The prep work plan is a procedural step that takes place before the city grants a demolition permit and before Disneyland submits plans for the Avengers Campus expansion.

The Avengers Campus expansion is not part of the recently approved $1.9 billion DisneylandForward plan, according to city officials.

Construction will begin in 2025 on the new Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab attractions as part of the Avengers Campus expansion.

The Avengers Infinity Defense dark ride will transport riders aboard a world-jumping spaceship to remote worlds and alternate realities throughout the Marvel multiverse using a blend of large-scale built environments and immersive media.

The Stark Flight Lab attraction will be set inside Tony Stark’s workshop where riders will fly like Iron Man at the end of an auto factory-style robotic arm during a simulated flight.

Robert Downey Jr., who will play the supervillain Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday” in 2026, will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man for both new Avengers Campus attractions.
