Bears predictions: Week 12 vs. Vikings

The Sun-Times’ experts offer their picks for the Bears’ game Sunday against the Vikings at Soldier Field (noon, Fox 32):

Rick Morrissey

Vikings, 24-17: The big question now — besides whether Matt Eberflus will be fired the day after the final game or the day after that — is whether the Bears will win again this season. The road to 4-13 rolls along with a loss to the Vikings. Season: 7-3.

Rick Telander

Bears, 18-17: I’m feeling wild and crazy, folks. Call it genius. Call it madness. Call it the simple fact I can’t think of any more stupid ways the Bears could lose. Please, no suggestions. Season: 6-4.

Scoop Jackson

Vikings, 21-16: Lately the Vikes have been beating bad teams and not looking great while still winning games. There’s no reason to believe that the Bears won’t keep that trend trending. Season: 6-4.

Patrick Finley

Vikings, 21-20: If the Bears play as well Sunday as they did against the Packers, they’ll win the game. But why would I trust them to do that? The bet here is the Vikings make a field goal at the buzzer to win. Season: 8-2.

Jason Lieser

Vikings, 23-20: The Vikings’ only losses were to the Lions and Rams and they’re fifth in the NFL with a plus-74 point differential. While the Bears are still trying to figure themselves out, the Vikings are flourishing. Season: 6-4.

Mark Potash

Vikings, 21-19: The last time the Bears had to respond after a gut-punch loss, they fell flat against the Cardinals. They’ll be better here, and are well-equipped for an upset. But at this point you have to see it to believe it. Season: 6-4.

Latest on the Bears
Williams and the Bears’ offense face a big test vs. the Vikings’ fourth-ranked defense. But after taking a step forward vs. the Packers’ 10th-ranked defense, the progress — however modest — seems more real than previous offensive upticks.
Matt Eberflus is struggling. The rest of the NFC North, though, has found long-term answers at head coach.
