Crews found signs at 28th Street near Arapahoe Avenue, at Table Mesa Drive and South Broadway, at 28th Street and Jay Road, at 28th Street and Palo Parkway, and at 28th Street and the Diagonal Highway.

Some of the signs were explicit in their messaging, urging drivers to slow down and not drive distracted.

Messages including “Get off your damn phone,” “Slow down (expletive),” “Put the phone down (expletive),” “Don’t kill any kids today” and “Slow the (expletive) down” were displayed on the signs, according to Boulder police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh.

Waugh said the department is investigating the posted signs as criminal tampering and asks that anyone with information call police dispatch’s non-emergency number at 303-441-3333 regarding case No. 24-12182.
