CROATIA: Danville residents Mike and Dia Mundle and their son, Alex, visited Croatia in July on a trip that ran from Zagreb to Split. One of their most memorable stops was at Plitvice Lakes National Park, where 16 spectacular lakes are linked by waterfalls.
“This is Croatia’s largest, oldest — established in 1949 — and most popular national park,” Dia says. “It was also recognized in 1979 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are amazing waterfalls and lakes. The water is so blue that it looks unreal. The raised wood pathways make it easy to access.”

TRAVEL TIPS: “There are upper and lower falls and seven different routes to follow. Your route will be determined on how much time you have. We only had three hours, so only completed the lower falls. Wear comfy sneakers, book your ticket ahead of time during the summer months and bring water.”
