Christmas in the Park tree lighting set for Nov. 29 in San Jose

Christmas in the Park gets off to a festive start Nov. 29 with the official tree lighting at 6 p.m. at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.

After the tree lights up the night, the park will be open for visitors to check out the exhibits and grab some holiday treats. Plus, Santa visits will begin at 7 p.m.

For those who want their holiday magic to start earlier, Christmas in the Park’s Drive-Thru Light Show opens in History Park San Jose on Nov. 21. Cruise through dazzling light tunnels, festive buildings and giant candy canes all synced to holiday tunes. The drive-through is open through Jan. 1, 2025. Tickets start at $25 at https://christmasinthepark.com.

CAMBRIAN>>Early election returns showed Adrienne Grey with a comfortable lead over Rebecca Wong in the race for the trustee area 6 seat on the West Valley-Mission Community College District board. Trustee area 6 encompasses part of Campbell and San Jose’s Cambrian neighborhood. Grey had 59.75% compared to Rebecca Wong’s 40.25%.The trustee area 6 seat was one of three on the district’s board up for grabs in the Nov. 5 election. Paul Fong was in the lead for trustee area 2, which covers parts of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, ahead of Robert T. ‘Bob’ Owens. Diane Lamkin was ahead of Mary-Lynne Bernald for short-term seat for trustee area 5, which covers Saratoga.
