Dodgers’ Brusdar Graterol undergoes shoulder surgery

LOS ANGELES — Add Brusdar Graterol to the long list of Dodgers pitchers who will be recovering from surgery well into 2025.

Graterol underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder Thursday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The team said Graterol is expected to return to pitch at some point in the second half of the 2025 season.

Graterol confirmed the surgery in a post on social media.

“Yesterday I had my shoulder surgery, thank God and Dr. Elattrache everything went well,” Graterol posted in Spanish. “This year 2024 was quite frustrating for me, dealing with that pain was not easy, and I made the best decision to have surgery, I never gave up, because I am a warrior of God, my mother did not bring just anyone into this world, she knows and he who knows knows!”

Graterol’s uncertain availability in 2025 could motivate the Dodgers to be more aggressive about signing a free-agent reliever this winter. In addition to their own free agent, Blake Treinen, the top of the relievers market includes Tanner Scott, Paul Sewald, Clay Holmes and Kirby Yates.
