Man injured during fight on Red Line train on Near North Side

A woman cut a man on the head during a fight Wednesday afternoon on a CTA Red Line train on the Near North Side, police said.

The man, 58, was arguing with the woman about 2:40 p.m. while they were on the train in the 800 block of North State Street, near the Chicago Avenue station, when the woman pulled out a sharp object and swung it at the man, striking his head, Chicago police said.

He suffered a laceration to his head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

The woman fled south on Wabash Avenue, according to police. Area 3 detectives are investigating.

The incident caused Red Line trains to bypass the Chicago Avenue station for around two hours.
