1 killed, 5 injured after DuSable Lake Shore Drive crash caused by driver going wrong way

A woman was killed and five others injured after a crash in Hyde Park early Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.

A woman, 20, was driving a gray sedan with two passengers northbound in the southbound lanes in the 5200 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive at 3:10 a.m. when she hit a white sedan going southbound, which then hit another white sedan. The woman was taken to Providence Hospital where she later died; one of her passengers was also taken to Providence Hospital in serious condition with a neck injury.

The man driving the white sedan was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition with a leg injury; his two passengers were taken to the same hospital, one in fair condition with a neck injury and another in critical condition, police said.

The man driving the third vehicle was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition with head and neck injuries, police said.

Traffic citations are pending, and the crash is under investigation.
