The alleged driver was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the parking lot on the north side of Solano Town Center, a police report said.

A witness said a white Dodge pickup truck struck a man, stopped, then accelerated and struck the victim at least once more before driving away.

The witness followed the truck while calling 911, and police officers stopped the suspect in the 800 block of East Tabor Avenue, about 2½ miles from the mall.

The truck’s driver, a 25-year-old Fairfield man, was “known to officers due to previous mental health calls,” the police said.

The victim’s name has not been released.
