ANTIOCH — Gunfire sent an 18-year-old to a hospital and also struck a vehicle during a violent six-hour stretch in an area that was plagued with it earlier this year, police said.
The 18-year-old went to the hospital without an ambulance and remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday, according to a statement from Antioch police Lt. Matthew Koch. That person is expected to survive.

That shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. Koch said police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Sycamore Drive and Peppertree Way and found evidence of the shooting in the 2100 block of Peppertree Way. The victim arrived at a hospital while officers canvassed that shooting scene.
Koch said an investigation at the scene determined that the person had been at the scene when the gunfire happened.
The location of the shooting is known as the Sycamore corridor and has been the scene of many shootings since October. The corridor was the central location during a stretch that saw eight shootings in a five-day span during September, one of them that killed a 20-year-old Antioch man.
Two more shootings happened about 6:20 p.m. Koch said those shootings appear to be related to a rolling gunfight.
Officers initially responded to reports of shots being fired at Sycamore Drive and L Street and found evidence in the roadway between L Street and Peppertree Way of a shooting, Koch said. He added that a vehicle also had rolled over and crashed in the parking lot of Sycamore Square trying to avoid the gunfire.
As officers investigated that scene, police received reports of additional gunfire on Auto Center Drive near Century Boulevard. Evidence of a shooting also existed at that scene, and Koch said one person said at least one bullet hit a vehicle.
Koch said police believe the two later shootings were related. Police have not made any arrests and did not identify any suspects.
