<p id=”par-1_46″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/blake-shelton/”>Blake Shelton</a> and Gwen Stefani are both used to traveling a lot thanks to their <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-burst-crying-blake-shelton-showed-1-songs-charted.html/”>careers as professional singers</a>. But there’s one place Stefani has been wanting to drag Shelton to for years, now. And despite her husband’s apparent reluctance, she very recently got her way.</p>

<p id=”par-2_82″>Both Stefani and Shelton have seen many places while touring. But it seems Stefani might have had a little more experience with life overseas than her husband did. Earlier this month, Stefani, Shelton, and their family went on an extended trip to Rome, Italy. They documented their travel to Europe on social media, where Stefani poked fun of one particular picture featuring her husband. In it, Shelton is seen riding a bicycle, and the “Hollaback Girl” artist noted how displeased he seemed.</p>
<p id=”par-3_32″>“You could tell, he has the energy of like, ‘my wife told me to do this,’” Stefani said in an interview on <em><a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR5kBlP-ee4″>Jimmy Kimmel Live</a></em>. “He had never…been to Europe. I swear.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_25″>But considering it was a special day for Shelton, Stefani felt that it was the perfect occasion for the two to finally visit the country.</p>
<p id=”par-5_44″>“I’ve been threatening him for like 9 years: ‘I’m taking you. I’m taking you. I’m taking you,’” Stefani quipped to the talkshow host. “And then it was his birthday. I<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-loves-kids-grow-la-blake-shelton-source-says.html/”>t was my oldest’s 18th birthday</a>, my other’s 16th birthday. I was like, ‘we’re going.’”</p>

<p id=”par-6_80″>Shelton had to slow his touring down in his older years. Whereas before he had no qualms about performing all over the country, having <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/blake-shelton-says-stepparenting-gwen-stefanis-kids-can-difficult-biological-dad.html/”>a family and three step-children</a> meant he had to shift his priorities. But giving up touring wasn’t nearly as hard as being away from his loved ones. Not too long ago, Shelton would find his way on the road again. It wasn’t as fun as it used to be now that he was a family man.</p>
<p id=”par-7_45″>“It’s terrible,” Stefani said in an interview with <a href=”https://www.etonline.com/blake-shelton-opens-up-about-missing-gwen-stefani-when-hes-on-the-road-exclusive-199913″>ET</a>. “Right now, they’re having bad storms back in California, and I hate not being there. Not that anything bad is happening… but I know they’re kind of freaked out, and it’d be nice to be home.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_52″>“I don’t do a lot of these. I think we’re doing 18 of these shows this year,” he added. “I try to limit it as much as I can, because the whole reason I’m even stepping away from <em>The Voice</em> is so I can just be there more, and that’s what I’m gonna do.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_46″>But life on the road had its benefits. While touring, Shelton was able to pick up a souvenir that honored his wife. When Shelton showed her a picture of what he found in his travels, Stefani insisted that he come back home with his new gift.</p>
<p id=”par-10_55″>“I get a lot of gifts out on the road…That night I walked in and I had this jean jacket with ‘Mr. Stefani’ written on it. I sent a picture of it to Gwen and she said, ‘Whatever you do, don’t leave that there. You got to bring it home, I want that,’” Shelton remembered.</p>

<p id=”par-11_61″>Shelton helped Stefani broaden her experiences as well when it came to traveling. After the pair married, Stefani moved with Shelton to his <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-shows-oklahoma-life-blake-shelton-including-purple-irises.html/”>home state of Oklahoma</a>. But this took some getting used to for Stefani, who was born and raised in California. However, the adjustment period wasn’t too challenging, and she soon fell in love with Oklahoma’s slower, calmer pace.</p>
<p id=”par-12_62″>“I am not really a dirt person, a bug person, I don’t like that much humidity,” Stefani once told <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fat9SVyqwR0&ab_channel=People”>People</a>. “But you sort of get over it all because it’s so beautiful [in Oklahoma], and you kind of feel like you’re going into this vortex and it’s just different here … I guess it’s just nature, and God, is all right there.”</p>
