One person was pronounced dead at the scene and five others were taken to a local hospital, police spokesman James Burlison said Friday morning.

One of the five died from their injuries by the time police posted about the shooting on social media at 6:47 a.m., and a third fatality was announced at 8:17 a.m.

Police initially issued a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area, which Burlison said was lifted at about 5:36 a.m. Although officers have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting, Burlison said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

Burlison also said officers do not believe the incident was a drive-by shooting and that it is too soon to say whether it was related to gang conflict.
