Bay Area News Group boys athlete of the week: Qusai Drief, Liberty water polo

Liberty water polo player Qusai Drief is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 21-26.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Drief finished with 39.06% of the vote. Branham cross country runner Alijah Murillo took second at 38.04% and Oak Grove football player Malakai Dominguez placed third.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Drief, a senior, scored five goals, dished out two assists, stole five passes and had two sprint wins to lead Liberty to a 17-4 win over Freedom. Liberty won the Bay Valley Athletic League regular-season title.
