Car crashes into Billy Corgan’s tea shop Madame Zuzu’s in Highland Park

A car crashed into a popular tea shop owned by Smashing Pumpkins star Billy Corgan on Wednesday in suburban Highland Park, leaving at least one person injured.

The vehicle plowed into Madame Zuzu’s about noon at 1876 First St., according to a community safety alert from Highland Park police. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

In a statement on Instagram, Corgan’s wife, Chloe, said her mother, who was having lunch with her son, was injured after the car “drove over the curb” and smashed into the store.

Chloe said her son “was able to jump out of the way and wasn’t injured.”

The tea shop will be closed until “further notice,” she said.
