<p id=”par-1_67″>In 2015, both <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/gwen-stefani/?swcfpc=1″>Gwen Stefani</a> and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/blake-shelton/?swcfpc=1″>Blake Shelton</a> ended their marriages. Both artists were judges on <em>The Voice</em> at the time, having met in 2014. Stefani’s divorce ended because of infidelity, and she said she initially wanted to keep this a secret from her fellow judges. Then, Shelton announced that he was ending his marriage as well. She shared why this felt like a gift to her.</p>

<p id=”par-2_46″>In Feb. 2015, Stefani discovered that Gavin Rossdale, her husband of over a decade, allegedly <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gavin-rossdale-said-received-therapy-gwen-stefani-divorce.html/”>cheated on her</a> with their nanny. Stefani felt as though her world had fallen apart beneath her, but she tried to keep everything a secret for the sake of her children.</p>
<p id=”par-3_24″>“It was the beginning of hell,” she told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/a16416/gwen-stefani-interview/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Harper’s Bazaar</a>. “Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_17″>When she returned to the set of <em>The Voice</em>, she learned that Shelton <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/blake-shelton-miranda-lambert-stand-sight-events-source-says.html/”>divorcing from Miranda Lambert</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-5_38″>“There I was with my big secret, right?” she said. “And that’s when Blake was like, ‘Everybody, before we go out there, I want to let everyone know that by the time this airs, I will be divorced.’”</p>

<p id=”par-6_15″>She said that knowing someone dealing with the same problems felt like a major relief.</p>
<p id=”par-7_32″>“[I felt] exposed somehow, you know?” she said. “But it was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_7″>Before long, Stefani and Shelton became involved.</p>
<p id=”par-9_29″>“And then it was just like everything flipped,” she said. “It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, ‘Wow, God, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen next.’</p>

<p id=”par-11_53″>“The thing about Blake is that you’ll never get through a day without laughing,” Stefani said on <em>The Jennifer Hudson Show</em> (via <a target=”_blank” href=”https://people.com/gwen-stefani-reveals-what-blake-shelton-does-that-makes-her-fall-in-love-8722136″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>). “You know what I mean? Which is just — it doesn’t even matter like what’s going on. The guy has so much patience, and so much kindness in his heart.”</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-she-recently-shut-down-divorce-rumors”>She recently shut down divorce rumors</h2>
<p id=”par-12_24″>Though Stefani recently spoke glowingly about her husband, they <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-calls-blake-shelton-divorce-rumors-just-lies-nobody-get.html/”>dealt with divorce rumors</a> in 2024. She said there was little truth to the rumors.</p>

<p id=”par-13_83″>“But when you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us,” she told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.nylon.com/entertainment/gwen-stefani-no-doubt-coachella-cover” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Nylon</a>. “You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship — I mean, a week ago, we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is. And so that [negativity] would never penetrate just by me being vulnerable and sharing a song that I didn’t write for anybody else but myself and Blake.”</p>
<p id=”par-14_9″>The couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary in July.</p>
