SAN FRANCISCO — Sixteen vehicles have been seized in connection with a pair of sideshows last month on the Bay Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The sideshows happened on Sept. 8, the first around 3:20 a.m. in the westbound direction and the second around 4:30 a.m. in the eastbound direction, the CHP said in a news release. Lanes were blocked during the sideshows, which lasted roughly 25 and 16 minutes, respectively.
The CHP said it used video evidence and data from Flock Safety camera systems to identify 23 vehicles involved in the sideshows. Investigators then submitted seizure orders for the vehicles, which were approved by a San Francisco County judge.
On Wednesday, investigators went to addresses associated with the vehicles, the CHP said. A total of 16 vehicles were seized. The search for the others is ongoing.
“Using our freeway systems as a place for these types of dangerous activities is unacceptable,” CHP Golden Gate Division Chief Don Goodbrand said. “Working with our allied agency partners, we will continue to use all available technologies to identify people and vehicles involved in these incidents and hold them accountable for their actions.”
