Disneyland is considering tearing a bloody page from the Halloween playbook of Knott’s Scary Farm and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights with a haunted maze during the wildly popular Oogie Boogie Bash after-hours party, according to a new survey.
A Disneyland survey sent to Oogie Boogie Bash attendees asks for feedback on a host of potential new additions to upcoming Oogie Boogie Bash events, according to a Magic Keyholder Facebook group post.

The list of possibilities included a haunted maze, stage shows based on “Hocus Pocus” or “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and more Halloween-themed parades, nighttime spectaculars, ride overlays and character appearances.
Disneyland is known for its family-friendly Halloween Time decor and not-so-scary Oogie Boogie Bash after-hours events that are far less gory, bloody and deadly than Universal’s Horror Nights, Knott’s Scary Farm, Six Flags Fright Fest and SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream.
Few fans expect Disneyland to become the Scariest Place on Earth during Halloween.
“It says haunted maze, not scary,” Genevieve Marin wrote on Facebook. “I imagine Disney characters pretending to be ‘scary’ or even Haunted Mansion ghosts floating around. Mickey and friends popping up from the shadows saying ‘boo’ and then giggling. Nothing along the lines of Knott’s or Universal Studios.”

Disneyland has dabbled in Disney-versions of scare zones and haunted mazes during past Halloween seasons.
Villains Grove during Oogie Boogie Bash takes visitors through a haunted walk-through experience along DCA’s Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
Lighting and sound effects suggest the essence, echoes and recent presence of Disney villains like Maleficent, Scar and Dr. Facilier — without the appearance of any physical characters or much in the way of physical sets.
The self-guided tour through the atmospheric forest is designed to be Instagram friendly and deeply immersive without scaring the youngest visitors.

Disneyland hosts the Ghoul House haunted maze one night every year during October as an employee-only after-hours event that visitors never get to see.
The decidedly un-Disney haunted maze filled with scary beasts and frightening creatures is created by cast members for cast members – Disney parlance for theme park employees.
The Ghoul House maze monsters wear ghastly disguises and deliver jump scares designed to thrill, chill and terrify just like their Fright Fest, Scary Farm and Horror Nights compatriots.
