PINOLE – A Pinole man was shot Friday morning when he tried to chase down a home intruder, police said.

Pair sentenced for operating sophisticated sex trafficking ring in East Bay

Around 5:30 a.m., the man found a masked individual breaking into his garage, the Pinole Police Department said in a news release.

The man confronted the intruder, who ran to a vehicle parked in front of his home in the 3200 block of Estates Avenue, police said. Additional suspects were inside the car.

The suspects drove away and the man chased them down in his own vehicle, police said.

The pursuit ended in the 2300 block of Simas Avenue when one of the suspects opened fired, hitting the man and his vehicle, police said. The man crashed after being shot.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
