Man sentenced to life in prison without parole for Christmas Day murder in Montbello

A man was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole Thursday for a 2022 shooting that left another man dead in Denver’s Montbello neighborhood in 2022.

Dydrick Martin, 27, was convicted Oct. 11 of first-degree murder for the Christmas Day killing of Torrese Gill, Jr., 25, according to court records and a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Police found Gill suffering from a gunshot wound in the 4800 block of North Crown Boulevard, and Gill was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

“Judge (Eric) Johnson’s sentence will ensure that Dydrick Martin is being held accountable for his actions and will never be free to commit other crimes,” DA Beth McCann said in the release.
